After seeing this challenge unfold the last couple of years, I decided to join in this January. 

Birds and wildlife are some of my favourite things to draw, and this drawing challenge introduced me to so many birds I have never even heard. Looking up pictures of the birds, I am always fascinated by the subtle colour changes in their plumage, and how perfectly their feathers fit together and fold in and out on each other when they open their wings. 

I enjoyed drawing each one, and used gouache, watercolour, coloured pencils and Procreate. 

If I had to choose a favourite, I think it would be the short eared owl.
