On opening my email inbox lat week, I was excited to see that my sketchbook work has been featured on the SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) website for their Words and PIctures 'Open Sketchbook' feature. 

When I was studying art, I found keeping a sketchbook a bit of a chore, and kept a lot of ideas in my head. These days, I really enjoy working in my sketchbooks. From working out ideas, drawing from life or from photos, or messing around with paints and colours , I love the experiments which may lead me down new avenues. 

It is a great feeling when you finish a whole sketchbook and you can leaf back through the paint and pencil covered pages, so satisfying!
